John Locke – 2015

John Locke earned a Bachelor’s degree from DePauw University, Master’s degree from the University of Arizona, and Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration from Ball State University. He began his career in sports medicine working in Michigan, serving as Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer and an Adjunct Professor for the University of Detroit Mercy. He returned to Indiana serving as the Director of Athletic Training Education for Butler University and DePauw University, before returning to clinical practice with St. Vincent Sports Performance where he currently serves as the Head Athletic Trainer for Marian University. Additionally, he has worked and traveled extensively with USA Diving through the National Training Center in Indianapolis. John served the IATA as the Fall Symposium Exhibits Chairperson (2001-2002) and was elected President of the association in 2008, serving as the 14th IATA President from 2010 to 2012. He was the Indiana Representative to the GLATA Executive Board from 2010 to 2012 and served as the Indiana State Association Group Representative to the NATA SAAC from 2012 to 2014. He additionally served the NATA as a member of the Athletic Training Service Award Committee from 2014 to 2016. John was awarded the IATA Collegiate Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2014 and served as a IATA All Star Athletic Trainer in 2007 and 2009. He also received the GLATA President’s Excellence award in 2012, the NATA Athletic Training Service Award in 2013 and the Indiana Sports Corporation Most Valuable Player (Volunteer of the Year) in 2013.
